When a disturbed young woman (Tracy Nelson) obsessed with romance novels is released from a mental hospital after a psychotic break, she decides to start a new life, mimicking the character in her favorite romance. Taking on a new identity as Nikki Harcourt, she sets her sights on marrying a successful, attractive doctor (Bruce Boxleitner) who hires her as a nanny to his young son after his wife’s death. Nikki quickly ingraciates herself to the good doctor, but his college-aged daughter Fawn (Dana Barron) starts to realize that Nikki isn’t all she appears to be. Determined to discover the truth about the woman who has injected herself into their lives, Fawn begins investigating Nikki’s background… putting her own life in grave danger.
