Lifetime Approves ‘The Secret Sex Life of a Single Mom’ for May 31st Premiere
On May 31, 2014, Lifetime will premiere the ultra-racy movie The Secret Sex Life of a Single Mom at 8pm. Based on the memoir by Delaine Moore, the script, which was penned by Christine Conradt and was shot in November of 2013, almost didn’t make it to the ‘small’ screen due to its highly sexualized content. “It’s a big deal that the film is debuting on this network,” Conradt says. “They haven’t aired anything like this before and I think it shows they are willing to take some real chances.”
For months, the movie was on hold because the network was unsure how their audience would react to a story about a single mother who gets involved in a D/s relationship. Under all the sexy material, there is an important message about female empowerment though. The central character, Delaine (played by Ashley Jones), realizes she’s completely lost herself after years of being in an emotionally abusive marriage. On a mission to recover (and discover) her own identity, she meets a Dom (played by Alex Carter) who promises to teach her how to become an alpha female if she agrees to be his submissive. She does, and through sex, she finally reclaims and embraces who she is and who she wants to be.
